When choosing filament, start by asking what the print needs to do. A decoration, prototype, indoor bracket and functional part at higher temperature all have different requirements. Only then choose colour or finish.
PLA: a clean start
PLA is a natural first choice for detailed models, prototypes, visualisations and parts used in ordinary interiors. It prints at lower temperatures, has good dimensional stability and produces clean edges with the right settings.
PETG: durability for functional parts
PETG is suitable where you need greater toughness and moisture resistance. Typical uses include functional covers, brackets, workshop parts or components that must withstand more than a visual prototype.
rePLA and rePETG: material in another cycle
Recycled filament makes sense when you want to reduce virgin input while retaining controlled printing properties. The quality of sorting, processing and final inspection matters — not the “recycled” label alone.
